Introduction

Merilyn Meristo is a Professor of Language Didactics and the Head of the Master’s Programme for Foreign Language Teachers at Tallinn University. Her doctoral dissertation examined novice teachers’ work motivation, job satisfaction, and perceptions of school climate. Building on this, one of her key research areas continues to be the support of novice teachers in school contexts.
In addition to teacher education, her research interests cover various aspects of foreign language learning and teaching, including language learning strategies, learning motivation, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), using AI and diverse research methodologies.
She serves on the Executive Board of the International Association for the Psychology of Language Learning (IAPLL) and acts as a reviewer for several international journals in the fields of teacher research and language education.
