Opening of the Academic Year

The 2016/2017 academic year starts with the Opening Ceremony at 12:00 on 1 September at the Astra building Researcher's Forum.

Tallinn University will be greeted by:

• Tiit Land, Rector
• Kalev Pihl, Alumnus of the Year, 2016 (one of the creators of the ID-card and Mobile-ID, an instigator of e-Residency and promoter of digital signing)
• Britt Järvet, Head of the TU Student Union
• Reetta Iida Loviisa Hämäläinen, student of the TU School of Governance, Law and Society, TU Student Ambassador
• The Tallinn University Men's Choir

Lectures on 1 September
1 September is a regular day of studies at the university, with the added opening ceremony. Lectures during the opening ceremony will be held according to the agreement between the lecturer and the students.

Backyard Party

At 13:00, all TU members are welcome to the campus courtyard to the traditional Backyard Party!

The campus will turn into a backyard full of pleasant people, good music, fun activities and mouth-watering food! Come for a moment and stay for hours to meet new and old friends and colleagues, and enjoy the programme and street food in front of Nova or in a red double-decker of City Tour.

Music is provided by the DJs of the Estonian Funk Embassy and the band OUU.

Come meet the TU sports teams, enjoy street food and the new Oaas café in the Nova building.

The hostess of the day is singer of Windy Beach and the head of public relations of TU Student Union Tuuli Rand.
