Practical XML-workshop for book historians: Books in Bits

In August 7-8, 2014 in Tallinn University a XML-workshop for book historians is organised under the title „Books in Bits: Using Digital Tools in Book History“.

The first day of the workshop is a whole-day introductory course into XML for book historians including hands-on exercises in a computer class taught by Ph.D Alpo Honkapoja, University of Zürich.  

The second day consists of presentations by experienced digital humanists prof Matti Peikola (University of Helsinki), prof Jukka Tyrkkö (University of Tampere), Jessica Parland von Essen, Carla Suhr and Ilkka Mäkinen as well as examples of the application of digital tools in book history. 

The workshop is organised by  Nordic-Baltic-Russian Network on the History of Books, Libraries and Reading network HIBOLIRE and the Institute of Information Studies, Tallinn University. Workshop is sponsored by European Association for Digital Humanities.
