Sociology of Culture – lecture by Dutch professor Pauwke Berkers

The course "Sociology of Culture" consists of four lectures (focusing on the three approached in cultural sociology) and three seminars (focusing on gender, race/ethnicity and nation). Whereas the former are given by the lecturer, the latter are more student-driven in the form of individual presentations. All meetings are mandatory.

Currently, Pauwke Berkers is Assistant Professor of Sociology of Art and Culture in the Department of Arts and Culture Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 2013 he received a PhD in the Humanities grant (together with Julian Schaap and Koen van Eijck) for the project Elvis has finally left the building?
