Student Academy

The Student Academy offers 9 courses for young people in the spring semester of 2024.
Target group: high school or vocational school students, young people taking a gap year in their studies.
You can register through our system, the registration link can be found at the description of each course.

Courses are held on 3 February - 4 May 2024, the exact dates and location at Tallinn University are indicated in the course information.

Come and gain important new knowledge for the future, meet other young people with the same interests, and experience what it's like to study at the university, to collaborate with our professors!

The courses of the student academy are conducted by Tallinn University lecturers, in addition to practitioners from outside the university. The courses last one semester. The study takes place in the university premises on 5-6 days, mostly on Saturdays.

The volume of the course is 2 credits (ECTS). The graduate receives a certificate of continuing education from TLU, on the basis of which it is possible to transfer credits during future studies. In addition, it is possible to consider the courses of the Student Academy as an optional subject in agreement with your school (at the high school level).

The cost of one course is 45 euros (unless stated otherwise). We issue invoices for courses after the registration deadline.

  • What is literature? Keys to understanding literary language / Mis on kirjandus? Võti kirjanduskeele mõistmiseks / (ENG)
  • Climate Crisis and Global Governance / Kliimakriis ja ülemaailmne juhtimine (ENG), registration deadline is 17.03., the course starts 23.03.
  • International Relations Around the World / Rahvusvahelised suhted maailmas (ENG)

Study information, important to know!

  • The student academy courses last one semester. Lectures and seminars are held during the courses, and study trips to various institutions and events are organized. Study days take place on Saturdays, 5-6 times during the semester.
  • The volume of one course is 2 ECTS (1 ECTS = 26 hours of student work). The record (certificate and academic transcript with 2 ECTS) will be given to you by participation in contact education with at least 80% volume and homework submitted on time, which confirms that you have acquired the study material. An independent work is considered counted if it is submitted by the deadline and the lecturer sees that the student has used the material discussed in the study to complete the independent work and has understood it correctly. Proof of participation in the course is provided by participation in contact education with at least 60% volume and timely submission of homework.
  • The courses of the student academy are conducted by Tallinn University lecturers, who are also joined by guest lecturers from among specialists in the relevant field.
  • (journalists, editors, PR managers, cultural critics, writers, politicians, debaters, etc.).
  • The cost of one course is 45 euros (unless stated otherwise). The basis for issuing an invoice is registration as a participant on the course website. The invoice will be sent to the e-mail after the end of the course registration period. If you wish to cancel your registration, you must do so before invoices are issued and the course begins. To cancel your participation, please write to akademia@tlu.ee - this notification is the basis for canceling the invoice. Those who reported later are obliged to pay the bill.

How to transfer the credits collected in the Student Academy?

  • You can transfer credits in every vocational and higher education institution on the basis of VÔTA, which is the consideration of previous studies and work experience. You can find out more about the terms and conditions of VÕTA in Õppeinfo / Võta. Vocational and higher education institutions also have employees who advise students on VÕTA.
