Tallinn University Open Doors Day in Helsinki: Lectures, mini fair and a movie

iCal calendarOn May 14, Tallinn University (TU) will hold an Open Doors Day in Helsinki to introduce the opportunities to study in Tallinn, and also in Helsinki. During the day several of TU’s institutes such as TU Law School, Baltic Film and Media School will give an insight into their programmes by giving a lecture. We will end the day with a film screening. Also a mini fair will take place on spot.
Visit us on May 14 at Korkeavuorenkatu 30A, Helsinki from 13.00 to 16.30.

Among all of those who register and will attend, one person has the possibility to win Tallinn Summer School’s course! This year TSS takes place on July 14- July 31. The winner has the possibility to choose a course among language and creative courses. In addition to a free course, the winner does not have to worry about the accommodation and ferry tickets - those will be free of charge for the winner too.

13.00 Announcing the winner of Tallinn Summer School’s course
13.10-13.45 Thinking Unlimited in Tallinn University - what does it mean? by International Marketing Specialists Doris Altin, Karolin Mägi and International Students Adviser Jana Tomson
You will be given a brief inside on university, English based bachelor’s and master’s programmes and admission procedures.
13.45-14.00 What is Tallinn Summer School about? by TSS Project Manager Birgit Kirsimägi
Each year TSS hosts about 300 students, from whom around 85% are foreigners. You will be given an overview of Summer School, its courses and cultural programme.
14.15-15.00 Legal Profession: Why is it important to study law? by the Vice-President of Tallinn University Law Scool Indrek Grauberg
What are the basic areas of law a successful lawyer must know? Indrek Grauberg will give you an insight to this question. Law School has a Law programme on BA level and International Business Law on MA level. Both programmes are taught in Tallinn and Helsinki.
15.00-15.45 Crossmedia - study of crosses or much more? by the Head of Crossmedia Department Andres Jõesaar
What the term crossmedia means? How to tell stories by using crossmedia? How can we transfer audiovisual content to the different media platforms– computers, mobiles, games consoles, digital TV, social media? All of those questions will be answered by Andres Jõesaar. Crossmedia is taught in Baltic Film and Media School- one of Europe’s largest and Northern Europe’s only international film and media school.
16.00-16.30 Screening of The Last Romeo
Film directed by Moonika Siimets, a film student of Baltic Film and Media School. The film was awarded as the best film of 2013 in BFM. Additionally to Crossmedia, in BFM you can study Film Arts MA, Audiovisual Media BA and Audiovisual Media: Television/ Documentary MA in English.
Synopsis: A romantic country boy Lembo lives in the faraway village where men are drunkards and women dream about bright life in the city. Lembo has fallen in love with the village beauty Liisu and decides to propose to her. An unexpected turn of events happens when Liisu's father and the vodka-loving dog step in. In one night, lives and dreams change and in the end nothing is like it used to be.
- In addition to the lectures a mini fair will be held form 13.00-16.30.
You will have the opportunity to talk to the lecturers, ask more about the university and admission procedures.
