IELTS is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia.

Furthermore, IELTS is recognised in more than 140 countries around the world, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA (e.g. over 3,000 US institutions and programmes recognise IELTS). It is also recognised by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies.
