Communication Management master's students studying Intercultural Communication at Utrecht University, The Netherlands

Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School takes part in the teaching and research network EMICC (European Masters in Intercultural Communication). The core of EMICC is the yearly EUROCAMPUS, a four month intensive programme taught by professors from the network universities, in which up to five students from each partner university can take part.

In Autumn 2022 three master students studying on Communication Management programme (with emphasis on the Intercultural Communication field) receive Erasmus+ student exchange experience in EUROCAMPUS 2022 at the University of Utrecht in Utrecht (The Netherlands). These master's students represent Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School in the network: Lala Mehdiyeva (originally from Azerbaijan), Farid Fakharzadeh (originally from Iran) and Md Haniar Hossain (originally from Bangladesh). Altogether 16 students from different universities enrolled in the Eurocampus Master’s programme came to Utrecht. Every week they have a new professor who teaches them the necessary knowledge and intercultural communication skills. Students learn about intercultural communication theories, consider intercultural communication from the perspective of different academic disciplines, and have a chance to acquire advanced intercultural competencies and skills useful in both professional and social life. During the last week Dr. Anastassia Zabrodskaja, Professor of Intercultural Communication at Tallinn University, gave them a course on Linguistic Landscapes,  introducing the recent theoretical and methodological developments in the field of Linguistic Landscape Studies. One of the major contributions of the course is to provide a framework for a coherent understanding of the context in which human and social relationships take place, by focusing on the different languages and linguistic forms that share a physical space. EUROCAMPUS is definitely driven by three keywords: superdiversity, mobility and communication. Face-to-face intercultural communication helps students to understand about nowadays complex societies.

It is a great honour to announce that in Autumn 2023, Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School will organise EUROCAMPUS 2023. As said the Executive Director of EMICC from 2023 onwards, Professor Anastassia Zabrodskaja: "This exemplifies well that as an innovative and academically enriching, Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School is acknowledged both locally and internationally for its role as a centre for science and education in intercultural communication."
