The conference brought together media professionals and enthusiasts to discuss the development and sustainability of Estonian journalism in an era shaped by artificial intelligence and global platforms. Key themes included the future of journalism in a changing value chain, the role of AI in newsroom work, data in the service of the public interest, the protection of freedom and privacy, and the relationship between (media) regulation and democracy in a data-driven society. Among the international guests was the executive editor of Helsingin Sanomat, Esa Mäkinen.

The first half of the event focused on the current state and future of the media, while the second half explored the relationship between media, democracy, and the public interest. Both sessions concluded with panel discussions in which the audience was also invited to participate.

According to Andres Jõesaar, the conference moderator and Associate Professor of Media Policies at BFM, the conference was a success in every respect. In addition to strong presentations, he highlighted two lively panel discussions that addressed key challenges in the field and explored possible solutions for the future.
