“Illness: Narratives, Imagery, Politics” online exhibition and conference

The School of Humanities students explored the representation of illness in literature, film, and art and visual culture.

Prof. Daniele Monticelli’s MA seminar, which took place in the Autumn semester of 2020 at Tallinn University, had as its theme “Illness: Narratives, Imagery, Politics”. Students explored the representation of illness in literature, film, and art and visual culture, analyzing a series of works spanning the 5th century BC to present day and applying different theoretical framework. Over the course of the semester they submitted a number of essays and creative works – videos, blogs, artworks, short stories, etc. The seminar culminates in an online exhibition of a selection of these creative works and essays and an open graduate conference (27-28 January), where the students will present their final seminar papers.
