Additional Challenges

In addition to collecting steps, the Health Orientation also focuses on mindful exercise and everyday movement choices, such as using the stairs.

In the Pacer app, you will be automatically enrolled in these challenges – all you need to do is mark whether you exercised and whether you chose the stairs instead of the elevator.

Presented by Sportland: Exercise Challenge – 150 minutes per week

Accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week (600 minutes in total per month).

Exercise includes activities that raise your heart rate and make your body work – such as running, cycling, swimming, group workouts, or training at the gym.

Light walking and everyday movement (e.g. getting from one place to another) are beneficial but do not count as exercise in this challenge.

A simple rule of thumb: during exercise, your breathing becomes faster and talking becomes slightly more difficult.

Regular exercise helps strengthen the heart, improve endurance, and support mental health. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), even 150 minutes of physical activity per week significantly reduces the risk of chronic diseases and improves overall quality of life.

Stair Challenge – choose the stairs instead of the elevator

Choose the stairs whenever possible in your daily routine.

Taking the stairs is a simple way to add more activity to your day – it raises your heart rate, strengthens muscles, and improves cardiovascular health. Studies show that even short bouts of stair climbing throughout the day help improve physical fitness and energy levels.

Next time, make a conscious choice to take the stairs instead of the elevator.

How to win?

Taking part in the Health Orientation pays off – the more active you are, the higher your chances of winning!

The main prizes will be raffled among all participants who collect at least 21 active days during May (i.e. at least 7,000 steps per day).

In addition, prizes will be raffled among:

  • participants in the Sportland Exercise Challenge
  • participants in the Stair Challenge
  • social media giveaways
  • and all Health Orientation participants

The more you participate and complete challenges, the more chances you have to win!

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR TALLINN UNIVERSITY HEALTH ORIENTATION

1. General Provisions

Tallinn University Health Orientation (hereinafter the event) is a movement challenge taking place during the month of May, aimed at promoting regular physical activity and supporting the health and well-being of university members.

Participation in the event is voluntary. By participating, the participant confirms that they have read these guidelines and agree to the terms set out herein.

2. Organiser

The event is organised by Tallinn University in cooperation with partners.

Contact: liikumiskuu@tlu.ee

The Pacer application (© Pacer Health Inc.) is used to conduct the event.

3. Participants

The event is open to Tallinn University staff, students, and alumni.

A participant is defined as a person who:

  • has joined the challenge TLULIIKUMISKUU in the Pacer application
  • has registered with their first and last name
  • has added their unit abbreviation before their name

Participants take part in the event at their own responsibility, must follow the principles of fair play, and behave in a way that does not harm the reputation of the event or Tallinn University.

4. Event Period

The event takes place from 1 May to 31 May 2026.

Registration in the Pacer application opens before the event on 20 April 2026.

Prize winners will be announced in early June, no later than 5 June 2026.

5. Scoring and Rules

5.1 Step Count

  • The daily goal is at least 7,000 steps, which equals 1 point
  • Participants who collect at least 21 points will be entered into the main prize draw
  • Additional steps beyond the daily goal do not provide extra points
  • Only steps automatically recorded in the Pacer application are counted; manually entered data will not be considered

5.2 Additional Challenges

The following additional challenges take place during the event:

  • Exercise Challenge (150 minutes per week)
  • Stair Challenge (choosing stairs over the elevator)

Separate prizes may be raffled among participants of these challenges.

Participants are automatically enrolled in the additional challenges in the Pacer application; participants are responsible for correctly marking their activities.

5.3 Devices and Data Collection

Step tracking is carried out via:

  • a smartphone (Pacer application), or
  • an activity tracker connected to Pacer

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their device and application function properly and that their data is correctly recorded in Pacer.

The organiser is not responsible for technical issues, data loss, or application malfunctions that may affect results.

5.4 Fair Participation Principles

Unethical or unfair behaviour (including artificially increasing step counts) is not permitted.

The organisers have the right to:

  • verify the accuracy of results
  • request additional clarification from participants
  • disqualify participants who violate the rules or damage the reputation of the event

6. Awards

Prizes will be raffled:

  • as main prizes among eligible participants
  • among participants of additional challenges
  • in additional draws (e.g. on social media)

Prizes are provided by:

Tallinn University, TLÜ Sports Club, Sportland, HeBA Clinic, Stebby, RingSpa, GKR Brands, Vitamin Well, Nocco, and Biofarmacija.

The organisers reserve the right to change prizes and draw conditions or replace prizes with equivalent alternatives.

Prizes can be collected at the Tallinn University campus (Narva mnt 25) until 12 June 2026. The exact time of collection will be agreed with the winner in advance.

7. Unit-Based Ranking

A ranking is also maintained between units.

The most active unit is determined based on the participation rate, not the absolute number of participants.

The participation rate is calculated as follows:

  • the number of unit members who have collected at least 21 points (i.e. completed the main challenge)
  • divided by the total number of members in the unit
  • expressed as a percentage

This approach ensures comparability between units of different sizes and gives smaller units an equal opportunity to compete.

The unit with the highest participation rate will be declared the most active at the end of the Health Orientation and will be awarded a travelling trophy.

8. Liability

Participants are responsible for their own health condition and the suitability of physical activity.

The organiser is not liable for any injuries, health damage, or other accidents that may occur during participation in the event.

9. Processing of Personal Data

The event uses the Pacer application, which processes participants’ personal data (e.g. name, step count, device information).

Data processing complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union.

Participants can manage the visibility and processing of their data in the Pacer application settings.

More information: https://www.mypacer.com/privacy

The organisers do not collect or store participants’ data separately outside the Pacer application.

The names of prize winners will be published in Health Orientation communication channels.

10. Photo and Video Material

During the event (including activities), photo and video material may be recorded and used in Tallinn University communication channels.

Participants have the right to inform the organiser if they do not wish to be photographed or filmed.

11. Final Provisions

The organisers reserve the right to make changes and clarifications to these guidelines and will inform participants through appropriate channels.

In all matters not regulated in these guidelines, the organiser will make the final decision.

P.S. In addition, everyone has the opportunity to purchase products from the GKR online store with a 15% discount using the code “TLÜ15”.
