Academic Writing course in English
The Academic writing course for Tallinn University staff aims to improve lecturer's academic writing skills by increasing their academic vocabulary and working on grammar and text writing skills. All classes take place between 14:00 - 17:15.
February 25 | Written vs. oral (academic) English- the key characteristics (vocabulary, sentence structure). Good online reference sources. |

March 4 | Structuring a text. Considering the reader. Cohesion, linkages. |

March 11 | Presenting one’s arguments. Hedging. Active and passive voice. ’Good’ verbs. | Deadline for the first written assignment: March 8. |
April 1 | Feedback on the first written assignment. Grammar special: Conditional sentences. Modal verbs. The use of articles. |

April 8 | Reporting. Nominalisation. Punctuation (the use of comma). |

April 29 | Feedback on the second and third written assignment. Summary of the course. | Deadline for the second and third (or one longer) assigment: April 22. |
