Introduction
Tanya holds an MA in Translation for International Communication and a PhD in Translation (University of Vigo). Her focus is on exploring how translation and intercultural communication practices can foster the inclusion of migrant communities and linguistic minorities.
Her postdoctoral project “Ideology in Translation. Political Discourse on Migration in the Media”, funded by the Estonian Research Council, studied translated migration narratives in the media and their impact on their audience. She also led the project “Improving communication with migrants for crisis preparedness: lessons learned from COVID-19”, funded by the Council of the Baltic Sea States, and is currently working on the project “Translation, migration, and democracy: Managing multilingual access to information in the greater Helsinki area and in Tallinn”, funded by the Kone Foundation in Finland.
