The Study Program

The micro-degree study program consists of master's-level study subjects that form a unified whole for the learner. The micro-degree consists of five subjects: Psychology for Interaction Design, Cognition and Emotion of Digital Media, Interaction Design Methods, Design for Behaviour Change, User Experience Evaluation. Assessment is done separately in each subject.

In order to receive a micro-degree program certificate, you must pass all the subjects of the program.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing the course you:

  • Utilize human-centred design and research methods to understand user context and generate innovative solutions.
  • Develop prototypes aligned with usability principles and design patterns.
  • Apply evidence-based psychological approaches to behaviour change in digital technologies.
  • Plan and design effective strategies for behavioural change.
  • Evaluate user experience using appropriate UX evaluation methods and interpret the results.

Study program and courses

  • Cognition and Emotion of Digital Media (4 ECTS) AUTUMN 2023. The aim of the course is to introduce you basic themes of human cognitive and emotional processes. Using this knowledge, students will critically analyze and shape multimodal experiences delivered by media and digital games through assignments.
  • Interaction Design Methods (4 ECTS) SPRING 2024. After graduating the course you understand the fundamentals of human-centered interaction design process; you choose and adjust interaction design methods for the specific design challenge; you use human-centered design and research methods for understanding the context, framing the problem and exploring possible solutions; you create low- and high-fidelity prototypes, according to usability principles and design patterns.
  • Design for Behaviour Change (4 ECTS) SPRING 2024. During the course you will learn how to provide theoretical knowledge about behaviour change theories, and develop skills for implementation of digital interventions. On the base of that knowledge students will train skills in designing digital interventions for health behavioral change.
  • User Experience Evaluation (4 ECTS) SPRING 2024. Studying on this course you will be aware of the main UX evaluation methods and is able to select them. You will know how to apply selected UX evaluation tools and you are able to interpret and analyze the results of UX evaluation.
  • Psychology for Interaction Design (4 ECTS) AUTUMN 2024. By the end of the course you can understand various perspectives of psychology and their application in Interaction design; can understand the role of human cognitive processes, motivation, emotions, social influences, and their applications in the Interaction Design; can apply various laws of psychology relevant to the Interaction Design process.
