Tallinn University School of Educational Sciences research seminar "Strategy Instruction for Students with Mild Disabilities in the Inclusive Classroom"

This research seminar highlights a series of research-based intervention studies, literature reviews, research syntheses, and review of reviews to improve the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional learning outcomes for students with mild disabilities in an inclusive classroom. Research topics focus on graphic organizes, peer tutoring, mnemonic instruction, tootling, among others. Implications for classroom practice for both general and special education teachers, limitations of the studies, and recommendations for future research directions will be offered.

The presenter, Richard T. Boon, Ph.D., is a Professor of Special Education in the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching, College of Education and Human Development at The University of Texas at San Antonio. His lines of research focus on literacy, academic and behavioral interventions, mild disabilities (e.g., students with or at-risk for learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders), emergent bilinguals with disabilities, inclusive education, and international special education. Dr. Boon is currently an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Special Education, and previously served as the Associate Editor of Reading & Writing Quarterly: Overcoming Learning Difficulties, Co-Editor of Learning Disabilities: A Contemporary Journal, and Editor-in-Chief of Learning Disabilities: A Multidisciplinary Journal.

Richard T. Boon is visiting the School of Educational Sciences with a support of Fulbright Program.
