Our people honoured with Estonian State Decorations

On the eve of the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, President Kersti Kaljulaid will present state decorations to 152 people whose professional work and dedication makes Estonia stronger, greater and more attentive. Among those people are four researchers from Tallinn University and a male choir conductor.

With The Order of the White Star IV class, President Kersti Kaljulaid recognizes:

Luule Sakkeus – Demographer, Professor at Tallinn University, one of the founders of demography in Estonia, long-term head of the Estonian Demography Centre. Luule Sakkeus is an internationally recognized scientist, an introducer of population health and aging processes.

Sirje Virkus – Researcher on Information, Professor at Tallinn University, who is committed to research on information competence, information culture and information and librarianship education.

Merike Sisask – Social Health Developer, Professor at Tallinn University, who is awarded for contributing to the Estonian population's promotion of mental health and well-being and for the development of mental health and well-being policy.

Indrek Vijard – Choir Director. Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Male Song Society, promoter of music education and conductor of the Tallinn University Male Choir, who has conducted boys' choirs at all song festivals since 1997.

The owner of the V class Order of the White Star is Juhan Kreem, a Senior Researcher at Tallinn University – a historian, a renowned medieval researcher and archivist who is interested in the relations between Tallinn and the Livonian Order in the 15th century.
