Introduction
I am Professor of Comparative Sociology and the Head of Institute of International Social Studies Education at Tallinn University. I have led and participated in a great number of large scale and international research projects, I was the Principal Investigator (PI) of the H2020 project Social exclusion of Youth in Europe: Cumulative Disadvantage, Coping Strategies, Effective Policies and Transfer (EXCEPT-project.eu). Currently I am PI of the ‘Gender Wage Gap in Estonia’ project funded by ERF, and I lead Estonian team in H2020 project ‘Platform Labour in Urban Spaces: Fairness, Welfare, Development (PLUS)’; and in ‘Closing gaps in social citizenship. New tools to foster social resilience in Europe (EUROSHIP)’ and in ‘Gendering Representations of Masculinities and Ageing'. I have served as advisor to government departments, and am member of several national and international review boards, lately in Evaluation of the support to promoting social inclusion and combating poverty by ESF

Areas of research
My research interests are especially in life-course in comparative perspective, namely the youth transitions in adulthood, inequalities in early career and in late career dynamics and the role of social institutions.
