Introduction
Ülar Ploom is a researcher in literature and translation. His study area encompasses late Medieval and Renaissance (specifically Italian) literature and culture, 20th century Italian literature and the reception of Italian literature in Estonia. He has commented Dante Alighieri's "Inferno" and "Purgatorio" and is now near to complete the translation and comments of "Paradiso" (together with I. Vene). He has translated into Estonian fiction and research by Petrarch, Moravia, Bassani, Calvino and Eco. He is the author of three collections of poetry and a book of short prose.
