What are the principles and values followed by Tallinn University as a learning community? How does the good research practice commonly agreed by Estonian research institutions relate to learning and teaching at our university?

Please read about the principles established in April 2021 by the University Senate -  as a student you are expected to follow the good practice of learning, as a teacher you should take into account the good practice of teaching and supervision.

Good Practice in Learning

Good Practice in Teaching  and Supervision

Students are advised on subject-specific issues by lecturers of the respective subjects and supervisors of the final thesis/research paper. Concerns or doubts can be addressed to the study programme administrator, head of studies of the academic unit or to the Academic Affairs Office (oppeosakond@tlu.ee).

For academic staff, the primary contact persons are research ethics advisers (see information at WD). If there is suspicion that good research practice has been violated, a well-founded doubt or complaint must be addressed to the chairman of the ethics committee.

NB! We do not have universal thesis guidelines at TLU that would cover all areas and fields of study. It would be too difficult to include all the specifics related to different fields. Each academic unit has its own guidelines. You will find the guidelines on their websites: BFM, School of Digital Technologies, School of Natural Sciences and HealthSchool of Humanities, School of Governance, Law and Society.
Additional/more specific information can be found on the science pages (Research- Research in Tallinn University-Code of Conduct for Research Integrity).
