Actors: Heinz Schubert, Gert Günther Hoffmann, Erich Kleiber, Verena Rudolph, Heinz W. Schimmelpfenning, Daphne Wagner, Siegfried Wischnewski, Joachim Hackethal, Dan van Husen, Rudolf Wessely
One of the pioneers of German New Cinema, Alexander Kluge brings to the screen a Germany that is still shaped by the shadows of past trauma. The Holocaust, the Nazi regime and the Cold War are not directly mentioned in the film, but their traces are clearly visible.
he film focuses on security guard Ferdinand Rieche, who takes his own security and order and his workplace very seriously. However, such exaggerated strictness inevitably has worrying consequences, and yet you can also laugh during the film. Hopefully because such nonsense is no longer found anywhere today. The film is satirical.
The film won the FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Journalists) award at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival.
The film will be screened in German with English subtitles.
The screening is supported by the Goethe Institute. Admission is FREE for everyone!
