After Tallinn University (TLU) students return from their exchange studies abroad, they have to fill in credit transfer application in study information system (ÕIS) and take their original Transcript of Records to the Erasmus Departmental Coordinator

1. TLU is obliged to transfer these courses and credit points (ECTS) what student has passed at partner university abroad to student's TLU Study Programme according to the course-plan what was agreed in the last version of student's Learning Agreement.

2. After the studies have finished and the student has submitted all the necessary documents to Senior Specialist for International Studies, the student has to fill in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) application in ÕIS within two weeks. The application in ÕIS should be accompanied by the copy of the Transcripts of Records showing the study-results received at the partner university (in case the study-results are not written in English, then also a certified translation to English should be provided). NB! The RPL has been registered in ÕIS when the student starts exchange studies. Thus, the student has to fill in previously compiled application in ÕIS and shall not compile a new application. (In ÕIS: Documents > Applications > RPL-Non-TU course.) The student takes the original of Transcript of Records to his/her TLU academic unit. See the instructions here: Submitting RPL application in ÕIS (recognition of non-TU courses, pp. 2).

3. The application for transferring ECTS credits from partner university should be done in ÕIS within two weeks after the documents has been submitted to Senior Specialist for International Studies, but not later that a month before intermediate week of the spring or autumn semester respectively. If the course passed at partner university abroad finished before the end of semester at TLU, then this course from abroad shall be transferred under this same semester when the exchange studies took place. If the course passed abroad finished after the end of semester at TLU, then the named course shall be transferred to the next semester.

4. In case the student returns from his/her exchange studies after the end of spring semester and the study-results from partner university have not reached TLU by the start of autumn semester's pre-week, then the student should contact his/her TLU study counsellor at academic unit, and ask for the extension in calculating study-load, in order to avoid being designated to part-time studies.

5. All students studying on TLU English language programmes who take at least 15 ECTS worth of courses per semester at the hosting university, transfer these back to TLU, and get these courses recognized as fulfilling their TLU Study Programmes, will be granted the official extension of the nominal study-period by the number(s) of semester(s) they were abroad as an exchange student (however they need to pay the tuition fee to TLU for such semester(s). In order to receive the extension, the application for transferring ECTS credits from partner university should be done in ÕIS at least a month before intermediate week of the semester.

6. The courses passed at partner university abroad shall be counted as passed (P) in the ÕIS system. This means that the courses shall be transferred, yet the actual grades not. This way the grades received abroad do not affect student's weighted average grade at TLU.
