1. TLU email address

Always use a TLU e-mail address in communication about your studies. Make sure that your account(s) in e-learning environment()s (HTM Moodle and eDidaktikum) are linked to TLU email address. Instructions for changing email on your HTM Moodle profile.

2. Email signature

In official communication when sending an email to a lecturer or university staff, always add your full name, specialty and course to the end of the e-mail. If possible, use the signature creation feature in your email program or settings.

4. An account in e-learning environment

The learner must create an account:

  1. HTM Moodle - instructions
  2. Google Classroom can be used with an existing TLU account (NB! Not with a private gmail account!).

5. Enrolment to a course

Registering for a subject at OIS does not mean that you are automatically added to the course in HTM Moodle or Google Classroom. Usually the lecturer informs about the existence of the course in the e-learning environment or this information is written in the study program in OIS together with the course link. To access the course content (materials and assignments) you need to

  1. Register for the HTM Moodle course - instructions are here.
  2. In Google Classroom you can register to a course using a link or a code (the teacher will share it)

6. Overview of the course

In the e-learning environment (HTM Moodle, Google Classroom etc) try to get an overview of what learning materials are there, what are the tasks and other learning activities and what are their deadlines. If you have any questions, ask the lecturer!

8. Lectures via digital tool

If the lectures take place via digital tool (Zoom, Google Meet or Moodle BigBlueButton), then

  1. Appear to lectures and seminars at the agreed time (ie late participants do not have to be accepted).
  2. Create a private learning environment that also supports the learning of fellow learners (e.g. does not take part in a lecture in a car, does not involve unauthorised persons in learning, etc).
  3. Appear with your full name and use the camera if possible. If the participant is not able to use the camera, then in certain cases, eg. a seminar, the teacher has the right to request it, at other times the use of a picture may be allowed.
  4. Do not share links and passwords for online learning with third parties.
  5. Do not make audio and / or visual recordings of the study activity without the permission of the facilitator. As such activities would be in conflict with the Personal Data Protection Act, the University interprets unauthorised activities as a violation of generally accepted norms of conduct.
  6. Be active, think along and ask questions!

9. Videos recorded with Panopto

If the lecturer uses the video recording program Panopto to transmit his lectures or other important information, then depending on the settings you might need to log in with your TLU account to watch the video.

10. Plagiarism detection with Ouriginal

Student can only use the Ouriginal plagiarism detection program when:

  1. The teacher shares his / her analysis address (similar to an email address) - the student only sees the result if the teacher shares it with him / her!
  2. The student uploads the work to Moodle and the teacher has previously set up the Moodles task so that the work will automatically move to Ouriginal - the student will see the result if the teacher has set it up and enabled it in Moodles.
