Success of Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School's Films This Summer

This summer was successful for Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School students, alumni and staff. During the few months student and short films won prizes from 4 different festivals!

This summer was successful for Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School students, alumni and staff. During the few months student and short films won prizes from 4 different festivals!

  • “Free World” by Anna Hints won Grand Prix and audience’s favourite prize at Rojal 13 Festival in Latvia. From Estonia “Three” (dir. Eva Kübar, BFM) and “Distance” (dir. Janno Jürgens, BFM) were also selected for the festival.

  • In Estonia “Free World” by Anna Hints won the prize for the best short film at Theodor Lutsu Film Days.

  • Blue Sea Film Festival took place in Finland 23-25 August. Grand Prize in the category of International Baltic Herring Short Films went to BFM’s Associate Professor of Film Directing Hardi Volmer for his animated film “Olmeheidutus”. In the same category the third prize went to BFM’s former film student Katrin Maimik and Jan-Erik Nõgisto for their short film “Foto”. In the category of Student Films the third place went to school’s film students: Kaur Kokk, short film “Last Call” and Doris Tääker, short film “Spring à la Carte”. The prize for the Best Actress went to Maiken Schmidt for her role in “Spring à la Carte”.

  • 75th UNICA film festival that took place this year in Fierbrunn (Austria) brought to Baltic Film and Media School student Anna Hints bronze medal for her short movie „Free World“.
