Our continuing education courses in Chinese culture offer an opportunity to explore traditional arts and practices through hands-on experience. Current courses include Chinese ink painting and tai chi, allowing participants to develop their brushwork skills or improve balance, coordination and concentration. The courses are open to everyone, and no prior experience is required.

Introduction to the Chinese Martial Art of Tai Chi: This course introduces the principles and basic movements of the Chinese martial art tai chi, including their applications in self-defence. Practical sessions cover tai chi exercises, qigong techniques, stretching, self-massage and partner exercises. The course aims to develop physical and mental resilience and flexibility. It is suitable for beginners, and no prior experience is required. |

Chinese Ink Painting Course: This Chinese ink painting course introduces traditional Chinese painting techniques, composition and the distinctive use of colour. In practical sessions, participants paint on rice paper using a pointed brush, ink and an inkstone. By copying works by Chinese master painters, they learn the fundamentals of brushwork and freehand painting. The course is suitable for anyone interested in Chinese art, and no prior painting experience is required. | Kristiina Kraft studied Chinese brush painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and spent five years living and studying in China. In her ink painting classes, she shares the knowledge of traditional Chinese painting she gained there and guides participants in practising brushwork and painting techniques. |
