Pärnu Film Festival Awards
BFM's Elen Lotman's and alumnus Ville Niemi's films were successful at the Pärnu Film Festival.
The awards for the XXXIV Pärnu Film Festival have been given and BFM has a reason to rejoice: two films by BFM folk have been selected!
The Estonian People's Award that has been a separate competition since 1999 (all TV viewers get to vote on their favorite), this year Paul-Anders Simma's "My Dear Mother" was selected, the cinematographer was BFM's own Elen Lotman. The beautiful woven blanket of West Estonian pattern will be placed on the shoulders of the filmmaker whose work got the highest number of votes.
The best student documentary were Ville Niemi's "World's Fire" and Veronica Andersson's "Fuck, It's Biology", the choice was made by BFM students. Ville Niemi graduated from BFM's Audiovisual Media curriculum this year.
Main subjects of the festival are: Human Interest, Social Issues, Art and Music, Survival of Indigenous Cultures, Scientific Research, Docs for Kids and many more.
Since 1999, a separate competition has been held for films that will be broadcast on Estonian Television (Estonian People’s Award). Next to awards given by the international jury there is always the competitive program on TV for the people to vote. In cooperation with the Estonian Television we show thought provoking and fascinating docs to the whole of Estonia and everyone is welcome to vote for their favourite worthy of the Estonian People´s Award.
