On September 26, the Energy Discovery Centre in Tallinn buzzed with curious children and parents who explored the hidden microbiology behind everyday foods like pickled cucumbers and sauerkraut.

Through fun, hands-on experiments, visitors discovered how tiny allies - lactic acid bacteria - help preserve food naturally. The workshop showed how people have long used microbes to their advantage, while also highlighting the health and cultural importance of fermented foods.

In just one evening, jars of pickles turned into windows into the fascinating world of science!
