This excursion explores the culturally transformed landscapes of the Gulf of Finland coastal area between Tallinn and St. Petersburg through the perspective of the New Coastal History concept. We argue that a wide variety of human activities linked to the exploitation of the area’s complex natural resources can be considered as a sort of unity through the lens of the Coastal Experience. During the first day of the excursion, we will visit the oil shale industry in Kiviõli and the Kreenholm manufacture in Eastern Estonia.
