Integrating Green Skills into University Lifelong Learning
Green skills, or sustainability competences, are receiving increasing attention from both individuals and organisations.
Being a sustainable and responsible citizen and organisation is becoming the norm rather than the exception. We view universities as a catalyst for systemic change of a sustainable future. Universities and other institutions are integrating green skills into their curricula, designing new programmes not only for companies and other organisations (e.g. local municipalities) but also for individual citizens. We follow an interdisciplinary approach, problem-based learning, and other principles in curriculum development. In Estonia, a governmental Green Skills Programme is currently being developed, alongside micro-credential programmes and standalone courses offered by universities, which address sustainability competences.
