Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School leads the European Masters in Intercultural Communication (EMICC) teaching and research network. The core of EMICC is the yearly Eurocampus, a four-month intensive programme taught by professors from the network universities, in which up to five students from each partner university can take part. The Executive Director of EMICC is Dr. Anastassia Zabrodskaja, Professor of Intercultural Communication at TLU BFM.
In autumn 2022, three master’s students in the Communication Management master’s programme received the Eurocampus experience at the University of Utrecht, through an Erasmus+ student exchange grant. These graduate students represented TLU BFM in the educational consortium, and it would be curious to hear about their learning experiences and impressions. What makes this group of students particularly interesting is their mixed identity: originally, from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, and Iran, as master’s students at Tallinn University in Estonia, they applied for the European Union student exchange program ERASMUS+ and were selected to spend a semester at the University of Utrecht. Such forms of super-diversity illustrate well that Tallinn University, being innovative and academically enriched, is recognized both locally and internationally for its role as a centre for education in intercultural communication. Let us now turn to their personal stories and see how they enriched their academic experience while studying at Utrecht Eurocampus 2022.
