First Month of Eurocampus at TU: Emilia Nikkinen

Eurocampuse rühm Tallinna ülikoolis

Who am I? I am Emilia, 26-year old student from the University of Jyväskylä. My major subject is Speech Communication, and I’ve done minor studies for example in social politics and gender studies.

How I learnt about Eurocampus? I really wanted to do another exchange after an amazing semester at the University of Stockholm 2014. The department coordinator of my home university suggested me the Eurocampus program in Tallinn after I told her that I’d like to get new perspectives to communication.

What were my motivations to apply? I saw the course plan and even though the schedule looked very tight and intensive, I found the contents super interesting and diverse. I also wanted to find ways to combine my studies in speech communication and gender studies, and intercultural communication seemed to do just that! I also never had visited Tallinn before (believe it or not!).

What are my first experiences at Tallinn University? Tallinn University seems like a modern and creative environment to study. We only have lectures in one classroom, so Mare will become more familiar than any other part of the campus. I’m happy with the cafeteria serving only vegetarian food, and I already went to see one Estonian movie at SuperNova!
