The seminar abstract
The European Union has increasingly incorporated digital governance into its broader integration process. The development of e-governance at the European level has transformed the way institutions interact with member states, citizens, and public administrations, contributing to new forms of governance within the Union. This seminar explores the relationship between European integration and the emergence of EU e-governance, examining how digitalization has influenced institutional cooperation, policy coordination, and administrative practices across member states.
The presentation analyses the evolution of EU digital governance initiatives and their role in strengthening supranational coordination while respecting national administrative traditions. Particular attention is given to the ways in which digital platforms, data governance, and cross-border digital services contribute to deeper integration within the Union. By examining both institutional developments and policy frameworks, the talk highlights how e-governance has become an important instrument for improving transparency, efficiency, and democratic engagement at the European level.
The seminar also considers the broader implications of digital governance for the future of European integration, including challenges related to regulatory harmonization, technological sovereignty, and the balance between supranational and national competences. Through this perspective, the presentation aims to contribute to ongoing debates on the transformation of governance in the European Union in the digital age.
