My Thoughts on Sound Mixing for Cinema
Graham V. Hartstone, AMPS (The Association of Motion Picture Sound)

Having joined Pinewood Studios Sound Department in 1961, Graham has enjoyed lifelong career in film sound.

Starting on the set, he climbed the ladder to become one of Pinewood’s lead re-recording mixers and Head of Post Production. Graham took part in the most incredible part of the history of sound for film, witnessing the evolutions both in technical and artistic areas.

He has worked for major film directors including David Lean, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Martin Campbell, Alan Parker, Ken Loach, Pedro Almodovar and Stanley Kubrick. His credit list speaks for itself:  Blade Runner, Eyes Wide Shut, Aliens and many more.

Graham is incredibly passionate about sound and teamwork, he shares his knowledge in some of the best film schools in the world, such as the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in Lon-don and other Film Schools in Europe.

Graham will talk about his experiences and his views on how he approaches a soundtrack and its various elements. He will cover not only the technical and creative aspects but also the human factors and organisational parameters for success.
