After my 4-month internship at the Tallinn University Press, I can say with 100% certainty that it was everything that I expected and even more. I learned a lot about how a publishing house works, what the process of publishing a book from the very beginning looks like, how they promote and sell their books and many other things. Needless to say, I also learned a lot about myself and my abilities.
During my internship I was given many different tasks that are part of the day-to-day life in a publishing house: taking photos of new books for social media, writing press releases, composing indexes for newly translated books and various other interesting assignments. I even got to help build a Christmas tree out of books!

The internship helped me develop many skills, but most importantly being confident in myself and my work. During different tasks, I noticed myself becoming a lot less self-critical and the constant fear of failure slowly disappearing. I got to practice my social and teamwork skills which are very important and needed no matter what one decides to do after graduating.

As the people around me were very supportive and welcomed me with open arms, I also became a lot more comfortable with asking for help when I needed it.
Overall, I really enjoyed my internship and the people I got to work with. I value the whole experience and the things I learned during my practice. Most importantly, I got my confirmation that working in a publishing house is something I want to do in the future and I am very grateful for that. I would absolutely recommend Tallinn University Press for internship placement.
