Neljapäeval 2. mail kell 14.15, ruumis A121 annab Portugali Coimbra Ülikooli (Portugal) kaasprofessor Ana Paula Soares de Matos avaliku loengu teemal "Prevention of depression in adolescence".

Ettekanne on inglise keeles.

Ana Matos, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Coimbra
I do research and intervention programmes, mainly in the field of prevention, and I teach, in the Integrated Master of Psychology. My topics of interest are mainly Health Psychology and interventions to promote well-being, mental health and TIC' functional use, and to prevent depression and TIC´s misuse/dependence, among adults and teenagers.

Recently, in 2 research projects we obtained interesting findings related with:

1) the effect of gender, psychosocial functioning, emotional regulation and familiar relationships in resilience and depressive symptoms among adolescents and their parents
2)  the motives and psychological functions and impact of the Internet (mis)use in a developmental perspective (from millennials to elderly)

Additionally an intervention program to prevent depression among adolescents (that includes also a parental component) was culturally adapted and transcultural studies of the efficacy of the prevention program were performed, by me and my team in a funded research project. This study involved originally, Iceland, USA and Portugal. Nowadays this intercultural study is expanding to Greece and Sweden.

My interest in transcultural studies (involving the American Continent - USA and Brazil - , and Europe - Iceland and United Kingdom) is now directed also to the study of the impact of the (mis)use of TICs in mental well-being and quality of life.
